  1. Green Hill Highland Games

    August 24, 2019, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Green Hill Park

Where can you find a ton of tartan, bold bag pipes and feats of super human strength in Roanoke County, Virginia? Plus live Celtic music. Clans, vendors, scotch tastings, a beer garden and more? Only at the 2019 Green Hill Highland Games where you'll also see some of the most outstanding kilt-donning athletes around! Both male and female athletes will challenge one another in traditional Scottish heavy athletics and strength competitions, including the Weight Throw, Scottish Hammer Throw, Stone Put and the always entertaining Caber Toss, which involves tossing a long, tapered pine log or pole end-over-end. Joining one again, will be the Women’s Elite Class, a group of female athletes who have competed nationally and internationally in highland games competitions. Come on out and cheer on the athletes and enjoy music, demonstrations, clans, food and more. Spectator admission is FREE. Media support from WFXR and The CW.
