Virginia Phase 3 Re-Opening (Updated 7/6/20)

Governor Northam has announced that Virginia will  soon enter Phase 3 of Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. Scroll down for details about impacts to our facilities.

Facility Closures

Athletics Leagues & Games

  • Youth Sports Fall 2020 Season - OPEN WITH MODIFICATIONS. After reviewing Virginia’s Phase 3 Coronavirus restrictions, Roanoke County expects to offer a Fall 2020 youth sports season with program modifications. Season dates and information are now available, with registration through your local athletics league beginning July 1. Download a summary of our proposed fall schedule and statement of potential changes. A complete list of modifications will be finalized by July 21.
  • Schedule Subject to Change - Please note that policy and procedural changes or schedule modifications may be made at any point in the season as circumstances warrant. Be aware that while recreational level games can be played in Phase Three, Phase Two physical distancing guidelines are not conducive to recreational level game play. Consequently, should Roanoke County be placed in Phase Two at any point during the season, games would be postponed during the reversion and teams would only be permitted to hold practices in accordance with published Phase Two guidelines. Please note, however, should the reversion to Phase 2 occur, it will likely be necessary to extend the season through November 14 to accommodate the regular season without consideration of post-season play.

Programs and Activities

All recreation programs are canceled. No new program registration will take place during this time.

  • Summer Camps - A limited lineup of full-day child care camps will are available at Green Ridge Recreation Center and Brambleton Center. All half-day camps have been canceled & all summer camp programs at Camp Roanoke and Explore Park have been canceled.
  • Programs at All Parks & Recreation Centers - A new lineup will be announced soon.
  • After School for Kids & Ridge Kids - Registration for the 2020-2021 school year is currently OPEN.

Park System - OPEN

  • All parks are remain OPEN for passive use (groups of 10 or fewer with social distancing)
  • Learn about PARK USE GUIDELINES
  • Learn about HOME RECREATION RESOURCES including fitness and recreation online content.
  • Picnic shelter and field rentals have resumed.
  • Camping at Explore Park is OPEN.
