    Have you been curious and wanting to give yoga a try? Come to a gently paced class that introduces those new to yoga to the practice. Including poses appropriate for beginners, an introduction to using yoga blocks and straps, utilizing the breath, and relaxation to help settle the mind and emotions. Learn how to move through poses with short flows and to hold poses to build strength while using the breath to go deeper into the form.   3. T'ai Chi-24 Form (Ages 18+)

    An internal martial art that emphasizes breathing and gentle continuous movements to help reduce stress and build strength. Also known for improving balance and joint health by slow, mindful, low-impact movements. Classes will focus on standing meditation, gentle flowing movements (Qigong), balance work, and learning the 24 Form.   17. Pottery (Ages 18+)

    The Brambleton Center offers a well equipped studio to create original works of clay in both wheel and freeform. Equipment includes 13 electric wheels, a slab roller, and an assortment of tools and accessories for shaping and sculpting the clay. A variety of glazes are mixed in the studio offering about 23 colors. Class fee also includes utilizing the studio on your own during select times when classes aren't in session and the firing of pieces made during the 10 week term. Clay must be purchased through Brambleton Center at $25/25 pounds. Saturday will be an open workshop opportunity for those currently registered in a Pottery class. All pottery classes are ten week programs.

  1. NEW: Windowlight Portraits, Metering & Lighting (Ages 12+)

    September 30, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Use the natural light to acheive studio quality portraits without the equipment! This class will focus on windowlight portraits and you will learn about your cameras meter, subtractive lighting theory, bracketing and exposure. Be sure to bring your camera and camera manual with you. If you don’t have one, you can download one online. A handout will be provided so you can review the information later. Feel free to bring food to class. Teena Cook has taught photography at VWCC for 30 years and has a Masters Degree.

  2. NEW: Reverse Canvas Signs for Autumn (Ages 14+)

    September 30, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Make a fall themed sign by taking apart a canvas frame (such as those used for painting) then “re-constructing” it so that the canvas is on the inside! Once you start you won’t want to stop making them. Easy step by step instructions are given in a handout so you can make more at home. Can be done with paint or iron on vinyl to look like stenciled art. Lisa Hoyt is the instructor.
