    Have you been curious and wanting to give yoga a try? Come to a gently paced class that introduces those new to yoga to the practice. Including poses appropriate for beginners, an introduction to using yoga blocks and straps, utilizing the breath, and relaxation to help settle the mind and emotions. Learn how to move through poses with short flows and to hold poses to build strength while using the breath to go deeper into the form.   3. T'ai Chi-24 Form (Ages 18+)

    An internal martial art that emphasizes breathing and gentle continuous movements to help reduce stress and build strength. Also known for improving balance and joint health by slow, mindful, low-impact movements. Classes will focus on standing meditation, gentle flowing movements (Qigong), balance work, and learning the 24 Form.   8. Painting with Ed Gowen

    Have you always wanted to paint but think you aren't equipped with the talent? Take a class with Ed Gowen and amaze yourself, your family and your friends with your masterpiece! First time painters are welcome and no experience is required! Ed will take you step-by-step through a painting project with entertaining demonstrations as well as personal coaching. Class projects last for a day (10: 00 - 3:30) and may include the popular methods of Bob Ross, Robert Warren, Gary Jenkins and at times, Ed’s own techniques as well. So bring a roll of paper towels and settle in for a day of challenging and relaxing fun! All other supplies are included! Participants under age 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  2. Intro to River Kayaking: James River (ages 12+)

    Enjoy guided river kayaking and enthusiastic paddling instruction on the scenic James River! This beginner friendly half-day trip will take paddlers alongside and through the expansive George Washington & Jefferson National Forests. All necessary equipment including sit-on-top kayaks, paddles, and PFDs will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a packed lunch, sunscreen, and water. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  1. Kinderdance (Ages 3-5)

    Your child will learn developmentally appropriate basics of ballet, tap, acrobatics, and creative movement, while learning numbers, colors, shapes, words and songs. There is an annual sign-up fee for Kinderdance of $30 to be paid each year upon starting classes. Choose the fee with $30 added to it to pay your sign-up fee when first registering on or after September 2019. Each month following, you will no longer need to pay the sign-up fee. Instruction provided by Kinderdance staff. All dancers will be given their class uniform and proper footwear on the first day of class.

  2. A Little Art (Ages 8-12)

    The name of the class comes from the projects being small in size, hence a “little” art. New and exciting fun projects are constantly being added so the exact same project does not repeat in the same year. All supplies are included, and projects might be: polymer clay, Artist trading cards, painting with different forms of paint, slime making, tie dye, printing and many more.     Two year old children are engaged in a dance and movement program developmentally designed. During class they enjoy movement creativity, dance exploration, physical development and body awareness while learning numbers, colors, shapes and songs.     Taekwondo classes at Green Ridge are designed to teach martial arts and fitness in a structured but fun environment. We help kids develop a focused mind, a coordinated body, a courteous nature, and a positive attitude. Kids, teens, and adults alike will improve fitness and coordination while learning self-defense skills that help build confidence and focus. Students can sign up individually or have the whole family try together. Fee is per person. Instructors Cameron and Sarah Starnes have years of experience and are 2nd degree blackbelts. No uniform required-wear comfortable clothes. In addition to martial arts instruction, emphasized will be the five tenets of taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.

    We will use glitter, sparkles, paint and pixie dust to create geode-like works of art. Watch YouTube for ideas and we will make your dream geode a reality.
