    Have you been curious and wanting to give yoga a try? Come to a gently paced class that introduces those new to yoga to the practice. Including poses appropriate for beginners, an introduction to using yoga blocks and straps, utilizing the breath, and relaxation to help settle the mind and emotions. Learn how to move through poses with short flows and to hold poses to build strength while using the breath to go deeper into the form.   3. T'ai Chi-24 Form (Ages 18+)

    An internal martial art that emphasizes breathing and gentle continuous movements to help reduce stress and build strength. Also known for improving balance and joint health by slow, mindful, low-impact movements. Classes will focus on standing meditation, gentle flowing movements (Qigong), balance work, and learning the 24 Form.   10. Pilates & Barre (Ages 18+)

    This low impact, effective program firms, lengthens, and shapes muscles to their optimal form! We start with warm-up exercises and stretches based in Pilates, then we use light hand weights for toning the upper body, followed by highly effective deep tissue concentrated exercises to work the thighs and seat. We will finish with abdominal- targeting mat work. You will feel new strength, increased flexibility, and more graceful. 6 week program. Instructor: Heather Richardson.

  11. Pottery (Ages 18+)

    The Brambleton Center offers a well equipped studio to create original works of clay in both wheel and freeform. Equipment includes 13 electric wheels, a slab roller, and an assortment of tools and accessories for shaping and sculpting the clay. A variety of glazes are mixed in the studio offering about 23 colors. Class fee also includes utilizing the studio on your own during select times when classes aren't in session and the firing of pieces made during the 10 week term. Clay must be purchased through Brambleton Center at $25/25 pounds. Saturday will be an open workshop opportunity for those currently registered in a Pottery class. All pottery classes are ten week programs.

Green Ridge Recreation Center Calendar

  1. Canine Good Citizen Certification (Ages 18+)

    Don't we all want our dogs to be Canine Good Citizens? Well, we can help make that happen! During this six week course, we focus on the ten skills needed by all well-mannered dogs as outlined in the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Program. The CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community while stressing responsible pet ownership. The CGC test is administered on the last day of class, and all dogs who pass will receive a certificate from the AKC. Instruction provided by High Hopes Dog Training.(Pre-requisite: Dogs must have graduated from Intermediate Obedience or have had private lessons with High Hopes.)

    Would you like to give back to your community by volunteering with your dog? Therapy Dogs are used in a variety of settings including hospitals, rehab and long-term care facilities, schools, libraries, Veteran care programs, and many other facilities. During this six week course, we practice advanced behaviors necessary for you and your dog to interact in the community with different types of people in different environments. Your dog must have his or her Canine Good Citizen title to participate.
