  6. Resolution Ride (Ages 18+)

    Pedal your way into summer at the Brambleton Center! Bring your fitness goals, hop on a bike and make a move towards better health. This specially designed class will provide benchmarks and target heart rate, RPM and energy output goals for each ride. Work alongside an energetic instructor and fellow cyclists in a fun cardio class that pairs your bike with a fitness system to track your statistics with each pedal you push. You can even have statistics sent to your phone, so that you can track your progress from the first class to the last class. Come in with fitness goals and leave with results! You never have to arrive early – bikes are selected and guaranteed for the entirety of the class. 6 week course. Instructor: Beth Hoel.

  7. Handbuilding in Clay (Ages 18+)

  8. Three In One: Mediums (Ages 18+)

    Exciting exploration of drawing, acrylic and watercolor. Beginning and experienced artists welcome. The first two weeks drawing students focus on proportion and perspective. In the second two weeks using acrylics, artists will focus on color, light and shadow. The final two week session using watercolor, students will focus on exploring color. Basic supplies will be provided, including canvas and paper. All students are expected to bring photographs appropriate for inspiration and useful for the session. Instructor: Michael Farrar.

  9. Three In One: Genres (Ages 18+)

    August 7, 2019, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Brambleton Center

    This unique class is tailored to the experienced student (you do not have to be an expert). You choosing the medium is part of the fun in this new class offering. The first two weeks focus on landscape and learning good composition through simplification and unification. In the middle session we will be working on still life and targeting the use of shapes to make a bold still life. The fast paced six week session will finish with two weeks of water scenes focusing on color, light and reflection. Supplies will not be furnished for this session and all students must bring photographs appropriate for inspiration and useful for each session. Instructor: Michael Farrar.

  10. Abstraction (Ages 18+)

    August 7, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Brambleton Center

    Working in acrylics allows for maximum flexibility in color, ideas and techniques. This medium can be used like watercolor or oils. Acrylic paint drys quickly and when dry is permanent. Learn techniques through demonstration and classroom practice using glazes, knife work, texture, composition tips as well as many other methods. Working in acrylics are stress free because of the flexibility allowing for your work to evolve and advance! This class will be intriguing and fun for artists at all skill levels. First canvas is included in cost! Supply list is given at the time of registration. Six week program. Instructor: Michael Farrar.

  11. Pottery (Ages 18+)

    August 7, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Brambleton Center

    The Brambleton Center offers a well equipped studio to create original works of clay in both wheel and freeform. Equipment includes 13 electric wheels, a slab roller, and an assortment of tools and accessories for shaping and sculpting the clay. A variety of glazes are mixed in the studio offering about 23 colors. Class fee also includes utilizing the studio on your own during select times when classes aren't in session and the firing of pieces made during the 10 week term. Clay must be purchased through Brambleton Center at $25/25 pounds. Saturday will be an open workshop opportunity for those currently registered in a Pottery class. All pottery classes are ten week programs.

Green Ridge Recreation Center Calendar

  1. Shorin Ryu Karate (Ages 18+)

    June 12, 2019, 6:00 PM - August 28, 2019, 7:30 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    Shorin Ryu is one of the major modern Okinawan martial arts and is one of the oldest styles of karate, Okinawa is known as the birthplace of Karate. This traditional martial arts style is heavily focused on areas such as kicks, punches, katas, and weapons. Students will learn the benefits of increased balance, flexibility, fitness level, and focus as well as build confidence. Students will also learn self defense principles that are hidden within the art and unlocked to show the fighting concepts that have been handed down for generations. Michelle Behrns is not only a Shorin-Ryu instructor but also teaches kickboxing, fitness instructor and teaches Tru Self Defense. A Gi is not required but encouraged for easier movement. Twelve week class.

  2. Adult Ballet (Ages 16+)

    This is a beginning level ballet class comprised of a 30 minute barre featuring exercises to warm-up feet, legs, and arms. This is followed by 30 minutes of center work and traveling combinations to work on balance, coordination, and flexibility.   3. Swing Roanoke Dance Lessons (Ages 18+)

    Want a new way to have fun and exercise? Swing Roanoke will be teaching classes to keep your feet moving! Each seven week series of classes will cover various swing dances like East Coast Swing, 20's or 30's Charleston, Lindy Hop, and others. No partner is required and those with two left feet are welcome! No matter how many times you have come before-classes will have fresh material to learn in each series! Classes include 45 minutes of instruction followed by practice time. Instruction by Swing Roanoke. June-July will be Swing 201. July-September will be Charleston East Coast Variations.

Summer Camps Calendar

  1. Green Ridge Summer Day Camp

    May 28, 2019, 7:30 AM - August 8, 2019, 6:00 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    There’s no way your kids will be bored this summer, when they sign up for full day camp at Green Ridge! This program combines the ‘healthy fun’ of Green Ridge Recreation Center and Splash Valley Water Park, with the excitement of organized activities from our experienced staff. Your camper’s week will be filled with arts, crafts, sports, games, swimming at Splash Valley and indoor pool, field trips and more. All activities and two daily snacks are included in the weekly fee. Campers must pack a daily lunch, swimsuit, towel and athletic shoes. A $25 per week deposit is due at time of registration and the remaining balance will be scheduled through automatic draft of your bank card. Green Ridge members receive an additional discount per week. Participants must be RISING Kindergarteners. Sign up for all 11 full weeks of enrichment, or simply select the weeks you need. Camp will not meet May 27, July 4 and August 9.

    You can’t gallop until you learn to trot. Get started on the right hoof with the equine experts at Explore Park’s Niagara Ranch, operated by Reba Farm. Saddle up for a week of adventures on horseback, with no previous experience needed. the mechanics of horsemanship - both physically and behaviorally. Good for anyone who wants to really work with, ride, and understand horses. Work with different horses and breeds daily while learning life’s lessons from a 1000 pound teammate. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Helmets and tack are included. Half-day programs focus on grooming, feeding and educational experiences with limited riding for short periods. Full-day participants will experience complete western style horseback riding lessons, featuring multiple riding sessions per day. Please bring a bagged lunch.
