    Pedal your way into summer at the Brambleton Center! Bring your fitness goals, hop on a bike and make a move towards better health. This specially designed class will provide benchmarks and target heart rate, RPM and energy output goals for each ride. Work alongside an energetic instructor and fellow cyclists in a fun cardio class that pairs your bike with a fitness system to track your statistics with each pedal you push. You can even have statistics sent to your phone, so that you can track your progress from the first class to the last class. Come in with fitness goals and leave with results!     An internal martial art that emphasizes breathing and gentle continuous movements to help reduce stress and build strength. Also known for improving balance and joint health by slow, mindful, low-impact movements.   12. Intermediate Obedience & Problem Solving (Ages 18+)

    Now that your dog has learned some good manners, the next step is to apply those manners to real life situations while addressing common behavior problems like jumping on guests, door-dashing, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, etc. Behaviors taught include stay, place, leave it, heel, touch tag, and more. Dogs will be taught to respond to both verbal and non-verbal cues. Prerequisite: Graduation from our Beginner Obedience course or permission from High Hopes.

  13. Beginner Obedience & Good Manners (Ages 18+)

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more. Other topics include parent separation, agility exercises, impulse control, and canine communication. Dogs must complete either Puppy Kindergarten or be at least 6 months old.     The single most important (and fun) thing you can do for your puppy? Puppy Kindergarten!! For puppies between 10-24 weeks old, socialization with other puppies and people is crucial in order to help them become social, well-balanced dogs. While making lots of friends during off-leash playtime, your puppy will gain confidence by participating in activities and learning basic commands. Discussions for puppy parents include puppy development, house-training, destructive chewing, and play-biting. Six week course taught by High Hopes Dog Training.

Green Ridge Recreation Center Calendar

  1. Shorin Ryu Karate (Ages 18+)

    Shorin Ryu is one of the major modern Okinawan martial arts and is one of the oldest styles of karate, Okinawa is known as the birthplace of Karate. This traditional martial arts style is heavily focused on areas such as kicks, punches, katas, and weapons. Students will learn the benefits of increased balance, flexibility, fitness level, and focus as well as build confidence. Students will also learn self defense principles that are hidden within the art and unlocked to show the fighting concepts that have been handed down for generations. Michelle Behrns is not only a Shorin-Ryu instructor but also teaches kickboxing, fitness instructor and teaches Tru Self Defense. A Gi is not required but encouraged for easier movement. Twelve week class.

  5. Ellis Life Guard Training (Ages 15+)

    Be a part of the aquatics team! This is an intensive lifeguard training course that teaches high protection standards to enable you to prevent guests from catastrophic injury or drowning. This program gives lifeguards the skills and technical knowledge to become an effective member of an aquatics emergency response team. Upon completion of course participants are eligible for employment at the Green Ridge indoor pool and Splash Valley during the summer. Pre-registration is required. Prerequisite: Must be 15 years old to enroll and be able to swim 100 yds, retrieve a brick from a depth of 8 ft. and tread water for one minute. Classes will be Wed- Fri 4:30 pm-9:00 pm, Sat & Sun. 8:00 am-2:00 pm.
