Green Ridge Recreation Center Calendar

  1. Shorin Ryu Karate (Ages 18+)

    Shorin Ryu is one of the major modern Okinawan martial arts and is one of the oldest styles of karate, Okinawa is known as the birthplace of Karate. This traditional martial arts style is heavily focused on areas such as kicks, punches, katas, and weapons. Students will learn the benefits of increased balance, flexibility, fitness level, and focus as well as build confidence. Students will also learn self defense principles that are hidden within the art and unlocked to show the fighting concepts that have been handed down for generations. Michelle Behrns is not only a Shorin-Ryu instructor but also teaches kickboxing, fitness instructor and teaches Tru Self Defense. A Gi is not required but encouraged for easier movement. Twelve week class.

Summer Camps Calendar

  1. Green Ridge Summer Day Camp

    May 28, 2019, 7:30 AM - August 8, 2019, 6:00 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    There’s no way your kids will be bored this summer, when they sign up for full day camp at Green Ridge! This program combines the ‘healthy fun’ of Green Ridge Recreation Center and Splash Valley Water Park, with the excitement of organized activities from our experienced staff. Your camper’s week will be filled with arts, crafts, sports, games, swimming at Splash Valley and indoor pool, field trips and more. All activities and two daily snacks are included in the weekly fee. Campers must pack a daily lunch, swimsuit, towel and athletic shoes. A $25 per week deposit is due at time of registration and the remaining balance will be scheduled through automatic draft of your bank card. Green Ridge members receive an additional discount per week. Participants must be RISING Kindergarteners. Sign up for all 11 full weeks of enrichment, or simply select the weeks you need. Camp will not meet May 27, July 4 and August 9.

  2. Kids in Camp (Ages 6-12)

    Energetic, experienced staff will lead children in a summer of F-U-N with activities including arts & crafts, cooking, games, swimming, field trips and much more each week. Three field trips a week, activities and 2 daily snacks are included in weekly fee. Campers must bring a bag lunch (no glass containers, please). Balance due the Friday prior to the starting Monday of each camp. 10 weeks to choose from. KIC will not meet Monday, May 27th or Thursday, July 4th due to the holiday's. Every Friday camp will be held at the Craig Center in Vinton. Prior completion of Kindergarten is required.

  3. Little Chippers Golf Camp (Ages 5-7)

    Would you like your child to learn a sport they will be able to play for the rest of their life? If so, send them to a series of weekly one day clinics led by PGA Golf professionals from local golf courses where they will learn the proper fundamentals needed to begin playing golf. The clinics will focus on learning the grip, swing, putting, chipping, golf etiquette, and life skills. Campers are required to bring their own age appropriate equipment to camp. A limited number of prearranged loaner sets are available for free by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department.

  4. Doc McStuffins Camp (Ages 3-5)

    Help Doc McStuffins heal the toys! Learn first aid skills, play games and become the best toy doctor ever in this camp! You will make the toys as good as new with your newly acquired skills and take home your own “Get Better” kit! Must be fully potty-trained.

  5. Space Adventurers (Ages 3-5)

    5,4,3,2,1 Blast off in this camp, we will explore outer space and learn about rockets, astronauts, stars, and planets, investigate mars mud and lots more. Take home an alien, rocket ship or astronaut figurine. Camp will not meet on Thursday, July 4th. Children must be fully potty-trained.

  6. Baked Specialties Camp (Ages 9-13)

    Do you have a sweet tooth and want to learn how to decorate with fondant-this camp is for you! We will make brownies, cakes and make scrumptious cookies. We will make several take home treats this week! Please note that regular flour, milk, nuts or other common food allergens may be used in this camp.

  7. Bricks 4 Kidz Robotics Camp (Ages 9-15)

    The Bricks 4 Kidz Robotics camp offers all the fun of building with LEGO® Bricks, plus the challenge of computer programming! How would you like to turn your next LEGO® creation into a robot, programmed to do exactly what you tell it to do? This fun, action-packed week combines real life skills with real kid fun, using the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Each camper will build a custom mini-figure to take home at the end of the week, as well asreceive a Bricks 4 Kidz Camp T-shirt.

  8. Wizards, Jedis, Knights and Pirates Camp (Ages 6-9)

    Journey into the world of fantasy! Day one of camp: create spells, play quidditch, make a wand are just some of the activities on Wizards Day. Jedis Day will be day two of the camp activities and will include making light sabers, light saber challenges, and Jedi training and obstacle courses. Knights Day, day three, there will be noodle jousting, capture the flag and more active fun games! Final day will be Pirates Day. Pirates will go on a treasure hunt, walk the plank, decorate pirate bandannas and swim at Splash Valley.
