    The Brambleton Center offers a well equipped studio to create original works of clay in both wheel and freeform. Equipment includes 13 electric wheels, a slab roller, and an assortment of tools and accessories for shaping and sculpting the clay. A variety of glazes are mixed in the studio offering about 23 colors. Class fee also includes utilizing the studio on your own during select times when classes aren't in session and the firing of pieces made during the 10 week term. Clay must be purchased through Brambleton Center at $25/25 pounds. Saturday will be an open workshop opportunity for those currently registered in a Pottery class. All pottery classes are ten week programs.

    Join this class to have some fun and to learn techniques not normally used in naturalistic painting. You will learn you can distort, exaggerate, omit, multiply, glaze, scrape, and texture in different ways….in abstracts your work does not look like a photo or a scene. You might choose to flatten the entire pictorial space and concentrate on color in a new way, or perhaps distort shapes and use new textures in your composition. For experienced painters this is a chance to challenge yourself and think outside of your comfort zone. The class consists of slow intentional movements, incorporating breathing and mindful imagery. Its goals are to relax, strengthen, connect the physical body and mind, enhance the natural flow of Chi (life force), and improve one's health.     Pedal your way into fall at the Brambleton Center! Bring your fitness goals, hop on a bike and make a move towards better health. This specially designed class will provide benchmarks and target heart rate, RPM and energy output goals for each ride. Work alongside an energetic instructor and fellow cyclists in a fun cardio class that pairs your bike with a fitness system to track your statistics with each pedal you push.   13. A Little Art (Ages 8-12)

    The name of the class comes from the projects being small in size, hence a “little” art. New and exciting fun projects are constantly being added so the exact same project does not repeat in the same year. All supplies are included, and projects might be: polymer clay, Artist trading cards, painting with different forms of paint, slime making, tie dye, printing and many more.     Two year old children are engaged in a dance and movement program developmentally designed. During class they enjoy movement creativity, dance exploration, physical development and body awareness while learning numbers, colors, shapes and songs.     Taekwondo classes at Green Ridge are designed to teach martial arts and fitness in a structured but fun environment. We help kids develop a focused mind, a coordinated body, a courteous nature, and a positive attitude. Kids, teens, and adults alike will improve fitness and coordination while learning self-defense skills that help build confidence and focus. Students can sign up individually or have the whole family try together. Fee is per person. Instructors Cameron and Sarah Starnes have years of experience and are 2nd degree blackbelts. No uniform required-wear comfortable clothes. In addition to martial arts instruction, emphasized will be the five tenets of taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.

  18. NEW: Windowlight Portraits, Metering & Lighting (Ages 12+)

    Use the natural light to acheive studio quality portraits without the equipment! This class will focus on windowlight portraits and you will learn about your cameras meter, subtractive lighting theory, bracketing and exposure. Be sure to bring your camera and camera manual with you. If you don’t have one, you can download one online. A handout will be provided so you can review the information later. Feel free to bring food to class. Teena Cook has taught photography at VWCC for 30 years and has a Masters Degree.

  19. NEW: Reverse Canvas Signs for Autumn (Ages 14+)

    Make a fall themed sign by taking apart a canvas frame (such as those used for painting) then “re-constructing” it so that the canvas is on the inside! Once you start you won’t want to stop making them. Easy step by step instructions are given in a handout so you can make more at home. Can be done with paint or iron on vinyl to look like stenciled art. Lisa Hoyt is the instructor.
