    Your child will learn developmentally appropriate basics of ballet, tap, acrobatics, and creative movement, while learning numbers, colors, shapes, words and songs. There is an annual sign-up fee for Kinderdance of $30 to be paid each year upon starting classes. Choose the fee with $30 added to it to pay your sign-up fee when first registering on or after September 2019. Each month following, you will no longer need to pay the sign-up fee. Instruction provided by Kinderdance staff. All dancers will be given their class uniform and proper footwear on the first day of class.

    Pumpkins are fall decor! Crochet a cute pumpkin drink coaster for your end table! This is a beginner friendly. Supplies needed for class (you will be notified when class meets minimum): 5.5mm hook, 30yards of orange worsted weight (4) yarn and a small amount or green and brown. Instructor Krislyn Colombini is a self-taught crocheter that now sells her crochet creations online and in shows. She will help you work through difficult issues in a small class setting.

  7. Little Tykes Indoor Soccer (Ages 3-5)

    Let's play ball! The Little Tykes program focuses on developing good players and good sportsmanship. Kids have a chance to learn the fundamentals of soccer through kicking, passing, dribbling and fun skill drills. This skill development program will run for 10 weeks, the first four weeks will be practices with the remaining 6 weeks for game play. Each player will receive a t-shirt, trophy and team picture at the end of the program.

Safety information and teaching techniques will be provided to parents. Parental participation is required.

  9. Big Waves (Ages 4-5)

    Celebrate your child's independence in the water. This is the first class that we offer that have children in the water without a caregiver. Your child may be a beginner or already comfortable in the water. Regardless, they will learn to float, kick and become proficient with arm strokes. Rolling over and treading water will be introduced. Submerging is a big part of this class since swimming requires being able to put your face in the water! If they are more advanced they will be expected to swim more independently and with less support from the instructor.

    Let's have fun learning to swim! This is a class for the older beginning swimmer to become comfortable and confident in the water. They will gain basic aquatic skills including; beginning swimming strokes, breath control, floating, and kicking - all of which will help to keep them safe. Games and activities will help teach them to enjoy and become adjusted to the water. In addition, they will participate in a safety lesson each lesson that will encourage them to be safe around all aquatic environments. The goal is a positive attitude towards swimming and water safety.

    Join your child as they discover the world of water. With your help, toddlers will experiment with arm and leg action, floating and going under water. Lots of repetition will help them become very comfortable and confident in the water. This is a fun and engaging class which will keep your child wanting to come back even as they are learning about safety and swimming skills. Parental participation is required.

  12. Level 2 Swimming Lessons (Ages 6-12)

    Our swimmers continue to build on the basic skills learned in Level 1 in the Level 2 class. The student will become more confident and be able to swim short distances by themselves. Students in this class should be very comfortable going under the water. Emphasis in this class is on learning to float without support, alternating arms and leg actions on front and back along with rotary breathing. Safety lessons are ever present in order to ensure our participant's safety around all water environments. Fun is not forgotten either!

  13. Level 3 and Level 4 Swimming Lessons (Ages 6-12)

    Now you're really a swimmer! Swimmers in this class are very confident and comfortable in the water. All strokes are introduced and by the time they have completed both levels, they will be able to swim at least 25 yards of all six strokes. When a participant passes Level 3 they will have achieved basic water competency skills according to the new American Red Cross standards. Safety lessons become more in depth and cover more topics.

    Taekwondo classes at Green Ridge are designed to teach martial arts and fitness in a structured but fun environment. We help kids develop a focused mind, a coordinated body, a courteous nature, and a positive attitude. Kids, teens, and adults alike will improve fitness and coordination while learning self-defense skills that help build confidence and focus. Students can sign up individually or have the whole family try together. Fee is per person. Instructors Cameron and Sarah Starnes have years of experience and are 2nd degree blackbelts. No uniform required-wear comfortable clothes. In addition to martial arts instruction, emphasized will be the five tenets of taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit.

    This class will introduce tools, the layer and history palettes and adjustments. Please bring your computer with photoshop loaded. You can download a 7 day free trial at Adobe.com. After that it is 9.99 a month. We will talk about a less expensive option in class. It takes several hours to load so don’t wait until the last day to do it. A handout will be provided so you can review the information later. Teena Cook has taught photography at VWCC for 30 years and has a Masters Degree.

  23. NEW: Paint Pouring Lab (Ages 18+)

    October 21, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Green Ridge Recreation Center

    A two-part class. You must be able to attend both sessions but pay only one fee. We will make projects on hard substrates which will be sealed week II. Projects will include a four-piece coaster set which will be ready for holiday giving, and several other options. The second part of the class will be using low VOC resin and other techniques. If you have been reluctant to try new finishing techniques, you’ll be in the right place! Beginning level paint pouring experience is ideal but not required. Wear old clothes and feel free to bring your dinner if coming after work. All materials are included. Lisa Hoyt is the instructor.

    This is a beginning level ballet class comprised of a 30 minute barre featuring exercises to warm-up feet, legs, and arms.   25. Quilts on Barns (Trip for ages 55+)

    What are barn quilts? They are large, hand painted quilt patterns typically displayed on the front or side of a barn. Each block is a vibrantly colored patchwork with its own unique design. Your travels will take you to Monroe County, West VA where you will have the opportunity to see several barn quilts and enjoy the fascinating history behind them. A step on guide from the historical society guides us through this scenic part of West VA. Special highlights of the day include lunch at the historic Rehoboth Church in Union, built in 1786 and a walking tour of Union including Ames Clair Hall and the Old Brick Church. The last stop of the day is at Cook’s Old Mill built in 1858! Fee includes breakfast biscuit, all tour fees, lunch, bus transportation, and trip guide!

  33. Beginner Obedience & Good Manners (Ages 18+)

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more. Other topics include parent separation, agility exercises, impulse control, and canine communication. Dogs must complete either Puppy Kindergarten or be at least 6 months old.   35. Intermediate Obedience & Problem Solving (Ages 18+)

    Now that your dog has learned some good manners, the next step is to apply those manners to real life situations while addressing common behavior problems like jumping on guests, door-dashing, pulling on the leash, not coming when called, etc. Behaviors taught include stay, place, leave it, heel, touch tag, and more. Dogs will be taught to respond to both verbal and non-verbal cues. Prerequisite: Graduation from our Beginner Obedience course or permission from High Hopes.

    Celebrate your child's independence in the water. This is the first class that we offer that have children in the water without a caregiver. Your child may be a beginner or already comfortable in the water. Regardless, they will learn to float, kick and become proficient with arm strokes. Rolling over and treading water will be introduced. Submerging is a big part of this class since swimming requires being able to put your face in the water! If they are more advanced they will be expected to swim more independently and with less support from the instructor.

    Two year old children are engaged in a dance and movement program developmentally designed. Choose the fee with $20 added to it to pay your sign-up fee when first registering on or after September 2019. Each month following, you will no longer need to pay the sign-up fee.   59. NEW: Paint Pouring Lab (Ages 18+)

    A two-part class. You must be able to attend both sessions but pay only one fee. We will make projects on hard substrates which will be sealed week II. Projects will include a four-piece coaster set which will be ready for holiday giving, and several other options. The second part of the class will be using low VOC resin and other techniques. If you have been reluctant to try new finishing techniques, you’ll be in the right place! Beginning level paint pouring experience is ideal but not required. Wear old clothes and feel free to bring your dinner if coming after work. All materials are included. Lisa Hoyt is the instructor.

    Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners.
