Virginia’s Blue Ridge Sports (VBR Sports is a division of Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge) and Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism are pleased to announce the first ever Spartan Kids Race in Virginia this summer.  The race will be held at Green Hill Park on July 21-22.  It is a two-day event, targeting close to 4,000 children ranging in age from 4 - 14.  This event is filled with specially designed obstacle courses, healthy food, experiential brand activations, and much more. Spartan Kids organizers will compel the local communities to rally behind the “Get Healthy, Get Active, Have Fun” mission through a public relations campaign leading up to the main event in July, and leave with the tools to keep the mission alive for years to come.

Spartan is the world’s largest obstacle race and endurance brand, and its events are centered on sport, transformation and building a healthy and active community of people. “Spartan is dedicated to creating healthy lifestyles for people around the globe, and it’s important to instill these values at a young age,” stated Spartan Kids spokesperson Daniel Goldstein. The Spartan Kids race evolved from our popular adult events and now draw hundreds of thousands of kids world-wide, and the Blue Ridge Mountains are the perfect backdrop for this event.”

Local partners working together to put on the Spartan Kids race include Spartan SGX training, Ferguson Fitness, and Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism.  “Virginia’s Blue Ridge region is full of versatile sports facilities like Green Hill Park. Events like this one will enhance our reputation as a sports destination on a whole new level,” remarked Doug Blount, Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director. “Booking this race marks one of the first collaborative wins for VBR Sports proving the diverse sports opportunities out there,” concluded Bree Nidds, Director of Sports Development with Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge.
