National CPR and AED Certification Day
Saturday, May 18, 2019
The Compress and Shock Foundation invites you to consider attending our 3rd Annual National CPR and AED Educational Event that will be held at the the Green Ridge Rec Center and 9 other host sites in the Greater Roanoke Valley. Our 60 minute education is always FREE to anyone 13 and older and is targeted to teach the public exactly what they need to learn to save a victim of out of hospital cardiac arrest.
Current statistics for the 350,000 yearly cardiac arrests in this country show that < 10% of victims leave the hospital without any brain damage and resume their lives. If every victim of witnessed cardiac arrest received bystander CPR and early use of an AED, survival would increase to 30% and this would be 70,000 Americans that leave the hospital without any brain damage and return to their families. More than 300 Roanoke citizens suffer cardiac arrest each year and we can save up to 50 additional lives yearly by making sure every victim receives CPR and early AED use.
