Make sure your children are cared for during at-home learning days this fall. RoCo Cares is a recreation based program available FREE for children of Roanoke County and Roanoke County Public Schools employees. Open to grades 3 through 7, participants can choose to attend one, two or three days a week, with drop off at 7:00 AM and pick-up at 6:00 PM. Please bring a bagged lunch, two daily snacks are provided. Face coverings suggested. This program will run through December 2020, and will be re-evaluated at that time.
RoCo Cares will be offered at the following locations:
• Green Ridge Recreation Center
• Brambleton Recreation Center
• William Byrd High School
• Hidden Valley Middle School
• Glenvar High School
During registration, you will have the option to select a preferred location, but placement is contingent on space availability.
Reservation will be open for Roanoke County and Roanoke County Public Schools Employees through Thursday, August 6.
STEP 1) REGISTER ONLINE HERE. Note your must create an account prior to signing up. Each child must be registered separately.
STEP 2) Complete a 2020 HEALTH FORM. Your registration is not considered complete until a form is on file for your child this calendar year.
STEP 3) Placement - Our staff will reach out to you regarding placement in the program.

Pending space availability, participants enrolled in After School for Kids (ASK) for fall 2020 may request participation in this program on a paid basis.
What if my child does not attend Roanoke County Public Schools?
Your child will still be eligible for the program as long at least one parent or guardian is an employee of Roanoke County or Roanoke County Public Schools. Participants may sign up for up to three days per week upon registration.
Will the program continue after December 2020?
This program is made possible with CARES Act federal funding, and has been completely funded through December 2020. After that point the program will either revert to a pay-per-participant model or be discontinued.
Are face coverings mandatory for my child?
Face coverings are recommended. Staff will be masked and equipped with proper PPE.
What other sanitation / social distancing procedures will be in place?
Program spaces will be sanitized between each activity and deep cleaned nightly. Each program location has assigned custodial staff to handle cleaning. Attempts will be made to keep participants as socially distanced as possible throughout the day.
